Overview

Serene Underwater Oasis Perfect for Everyone
Gota El Dier is a charming and serene dive site that proves you don't need strong currents or extreme depths to witness the beauty of the Red Sea. Translating to "Piece of the Monastery," this single, impressive coral pinnacle ("Gota") serves as a vibrant underwater oasis. Its calm, sheltered conditions and shallow depth make it a favorite for our half-day trips, and it's the perfect location for a relaxed afternoon dive for everyone from beginners to seasoned photographers.

The Dive Plan and Experience
The dive plan here is as relaxing as the site itself. The dive boat moors in a protected spot, allowing for an easy entry into the calm, clear water. You will descend to a sandy bottom at around 14-16 meters, right beside the main pinnacle. The goal is to slowly circumnavigate the entire reef, giving you ample time to explore every crack and crevice.

As you swim, you will be mesmerized by the clouds of orange anthias and shimmering glassfish that pulse around the coral. Look closely at the reef structure to spot perfectly camouflaged scorpionfish and stonefish. The sandy bottom is a resting place for numerous blue-spotted stingrays. Because of its relaxed nature, this site is ideal for divers wishing to refresh their skills with our PADI ReActivate™ program.

Why We Recommend This Dive for All Divers
Gota El Dier is one of our most requested sites for the second dive of the day. Its shallow profile allows for a long, safe bottom time, giving you maximum value and enjoyment. It is a fantastic site for new divers completing their PADI Open Water Diver course to build confidence in a real reef environment. For photographers, the excellent light and calm conditions provide a perfect studio for capturing the Red Sea's vibrant colors.
