Marsa Egla is a stunningly beautiful and narrow bay that offers one of the most rewarding and relaxed shore dives in Marsa Alam. This site is a paradise for macro lovers and anyone who enjoys searching for rare and unusual creatures. The bay’s extensive seagrass meadows provide a rich feeding ground, making it a highly reliable location for spotting giant green turtles. It's a dive that rewards patience and a keen eye with incredible discoveries.
The dive plan at Marsa Egla is a slow and methodical exploration. After an easy beach entry, the dive usually focuses on one of the two fringing reefs, either north or south. The main attraction, however, is the central seagrass area. This is where you can spend your time searching for the masters of camouflage, including the elusive ornate ghost pipefish and, with a bit of luck, the thorny seahorse. The calm and shallow conditions make this an excellent site for photographers and for students in the PADI Open Water Diver course to enjoy a dive teeming with life.
The combination of guaranteed turtle sightings and the thrill of the "treasure hunt" for rare macro life makes Marsa Egla a truly special place. It’s a fantastic site to practice the careful observation needed for the AWARE - Fish Identification specialty. It proves that the most exciting discoveries often come in the smallest packages, making it a favorite among our most experienced guides and divers.
