Overview

The perfect companion to its larger neighbor, Gamul Al Saghir ("The Small Camel") is a beautiful pinnacle dive that proves great things come in small packages. Located in the calm, protected waters of Soma Bay's inner reef, this single, prominent coral block rises from a sandy bottom, creating a concentrated hub of marine activity that is both easy and rewarding to explore.

The dive plan is wonderfully simple: a slow, multi-level, spiraling circumnavigation of the pinnacle. This allows you to see the entire ecosystem in one relaxed and leisurely dive. The pinnacle is constantly swarming with clouds of glassfish and anthias, creating a vibrant spectacle of color and movement. A careful search of its many cracks and crevices will reveal moray eels, cleaner shrimp, and expertly camouflaged scorpionfish. The surrounding sandy area is a prime location for spotting crocodile fish lying in wait. Its calm, protected nature makes it another fantastic site for students of the PADI Open water Diver course to build confidence.

Often dived in combination with its "big brother," Gamul Al Kabeir, on a two-tank trip, this site is excellent for photographers who want to focus on a single, vibrant subject. It’s a brilliant example of the rich biodiversity of Soma Bay’s protected inner reefs and a truly charming dive for all.
