Salem Express is a full day trip especially for experienced divers. The wreck remains in good shape, though you should be a skilled diver to explore and penetrate inside it due to the lack of light. The beautiful corals cover much of the ship surface.
The Salem Express was a 100 m long a car and passenger ferry that sank after colliding with a reef in the midnight storm in the Red Sea on the December 17, 1991. The ferry operated between the ports of Safaga (Egypt) and Jeddan (Saudi Arabia). It was one of the greatest marine tragedies in the Red Sea given the fact that hundreds of pilgrims died in the ship while returning from Mecca.
At the hulk you will find several raspberry corals, huge soft corals at the smoke pipe as well as some sea needles and grouper.
