Overview

The Beautiful Wall of Torfa Abu Makadi

While some dive sites are famous for a single, dramatic feature, Torfa Abu Makadi is celebrated for its consistent, high-quality beauty. This is a classic Red Sea wall dive that offers a fantastic drift experience for certified advanced divers. Less crowded than some of the more famous named reefs, Torfa Abu Makadi often feels like a private tour through a pristine underwater environment, showcasing impressive coral health and a surprising density of marine life.

The dive plan is a perfect, relaxing drift. After descending onto the top of the sloping wall, you will simply let the current be your guide. The wall is adorned with healthy hard corals and beautiful gorgonian fan corals in the deeper sections. Your guide will help you spot moray eels, Napoleon wrasse, and schools of unicornfish. Because of its exposure to the open sea, it’s always worth keeping an eye out in the blue for passing tuna or jacks.

This dive is a fantastic and rewarding adventure for anyone certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. The conditions make it an excellent opportunity to refine your skills with the PADI Drift Diver or PADI Deep Diver specialties. It’s a dive that beautifully represents the rich tapestry of life found on the reefs of Makadi Bay.
