Overview

The Exhilarating Rush of a Classic Red Sea Drift Dive
If Abu Hashish Lagoon is the calm welcome to Makadi Bay, the "Runaway" is the thrilling adventure that awaits just around the corner. Located on the exposed outer wall of the same reef system, this site offers a completely different experience. It's a classic, exhilarating one-way drift dive that lets you glide effortlessly along a beautiful, sloping wall, showcasing the grander scale of the Red Sea's underwater landscapes.

The Dive Plan and Experience
This is a dive for those who love to fly. The plan is simple: the boat drops our divers at the northern end of the reef, and after a swift descent, you simply relax and let the current do the work. You will be carried gently southwards, parallel to the stunning reef wall. Your only job is to watch the magnificent panorama unfold. The wall is adorned with impressive table corals and, in the deeper sections, large gorgonian sea fans.

This is a fantastic dive for certified Advanced Open Water Divers looking for an introduction to drift diving. The currents are typically manageable, making it a perfect place to earn your PADI Drift Diver specialty. With depths that can easily exceed 30 meters, it's also a great opportunity for those with a PADI Deep Diver certification to explore the lower sections of the reef.

Why We Recommend This Dive for Advanced Divers
Abu Hashish Runaway provides the perfect taste of classic Red Sea drift diving. It has a high chance of encounters with larger marine life, with eagle rays and turtles being very common sightings. The feeling of gliding effortlessly past pristine coral formations is what Red Sea diving is all about. It’s an energizing, beautiful dive that will leave you wanting more.
